Care

Fireclay is fired at very high temperatures, giving a hard, glazed surface that stands up to daily use. Clean with mild soap or a non-abrasive cleaner and a soft cloth. Be gentle around the hand-applied Kintsugi detailing: avoid abrasive pads and harsh chemicals.

Before You Buy

• Handmade means unique. Each piece is made by hand, so expect small variations in size, texture and color from the photos.
• Cabinet fit. Apron-front sinks need a cabinet sized and prepared for them. The sink can be undermounted or dropped in, and Thompson supplies mounting clips on request. Send us your cabinet size and we'll check the fit with Thompson.

The Art of Kintsugi

Kintsugi is a centuries-old Japanese practice of mending broken pottery with lacquer and precious metal, so the repair becomes the most beautiful part of the piece. Thompson borrows that idea for its fireclay sinks: the metallic veins are applied by hand, so every sink carries its own unique pattern.

Yes. Fireclay is fired at very high temperatures, which gives it a hard, glazed surface that resists everyday wear. Treat the hand-applied Kintsugi detailing gently and avoid abrasive cleaners.

Which detailing should I choose?

Match it to your faucet and hardware: gold with brass or gold fixtures, silver with nickel or chrome, and copper with copper or bronze. If you're unsure, call us and we'll talk it through with you.

Do I need a professional installer?

Thompson recommends that all of its sinks are installed by a licensed professional, following Thompson's installation guide (linked above). If your installer has questions about cutouts or support, we can get answers from Thompson for you.

Why might my sink look a little different from the photos?

Each piece is made by hand, so size, texture and color vary slightly from piece to piece and from the photos. Those small differences are the signature of handmade work, not a defect.
